DOCBOOK-APPS: All kinds of problems with DocBook XML <table> IS BROKEFOR ME!!

BTW: Cross-post not intentional, just got on wrong list originally.

 1) Problem Description:

I've got all kinds of problems with DocBook <table> rendering to HTML:
  * can't get column spans to work.
  * can't get multiple <tgroup> columns to align.
  * entrytbl throws element names into the HTML text!!

What's going on here? Is style sheet broke? Are the
parsers or processors broke? What gives? 

 2) DocBook Xml:    Version 2.0
 3) DocBook Style:  Version 1.40
 4) Style Sheet:    xtchunk.xsl
 5) Xt:             Version 19991105 under Xae
 6) Xp:             Version 0.5 under Xae
 7) Xae:            Version 1.0 beta 6
