epigraph is not offset

epigraph is not offset properly in either XHTML or FO.

In XHTML, the solution turned out to be CSS:

/* epigraph: flush right, large left margin */
.epigraph { text-align: right; margin-left: 50%; }

what do I do to achieve a similar effect with FO?
