Dear Sara,

We discussed the possible sponsorship
options for the workshop next year. The Steering Committee is generally in
support of sponsorship but they would like more information than I could
provide.

Basically, we would like to more fully
understand the responsibilities and benefits of sponsorship. As you know, we
have broadened our scope beyond PKI, like yourselves, we realize that we need
to go beyond PKI and focus on Identity Infrastructures. We would like to
understand the new scope as defined by the programme committee (if there is one
yet) and we would like to have input in the call for presentations. Our
(IDtrust) goal is to identify new technical work and participants - this will
be a fine opportunity to do so if we are all in agreement regarding the goals
and expected outcome. Do you think it will be possible to increase attendance
if we are able to re-invent the event?

I do not want to sound ungrateful for this
opportunity and we are honored to be considered as a co-sponsor. That said, the
Steering Committee needs to understand how this commitment will fit into our
new strategy and we need to feel confident that this event will further our
agenda.

Do you think that the other organizers
would be interested in a call to toss around these ideas?
