RE: [kmip-interop-tech] Notes from KMIP interop call, October 7

Thanks Gordon – did you have any feedback for us on what size IBM preferred?  The options were priced out by  10x30 and 10x20 spaces.  Please let me know your preference.  Kind regards, Jane

Hello all,
We need to make a decision quickly regarding participation at RSA, as floor space is going quickly. The KMIP Interop was very successful last year and yielded good contacts (sales leads) for the participants. Please contact me ASAP if you are going to commit.
Regards,
Dee

hi Dee -

I just mentioned it to the larger group in our TC call this morning, so we may have other interested folks. As of now, companies involved in or who have expressed interest in the interop testing include:

Cryptsoft
EMC/RSA
HP
IBM
SafeNet
Thales

I'll send a follow-up note to the TC later today, requesting anyone else who might be interested to let Subhash and myself know.

regards,

Bob

Awesome! Jane and I will contact RSA conference ASAP – Do we have any idea how many vendors would be ready – of course that will dictate costs.
Cheers,
dee

hi Dee -

in our KMIP interop call this morning, we felt that targeting RSA Conference for a public KMIP interop would be a good idea. Any plans yet around an OASIS booth, etc?

regards,

Bob

Hi everyone,
Do we want to begin to think about a venue to do a public KMIP interop? RSA is even earlier this year, http://www.rsaconference.com/2011/usa/, but it is the 20th anniversary.
Let me know what you think.
Best,
Dee

All,

Here are my summary notes from today's interop call. Please let me know of any additions/corrections you might have.

Regards,
Mathias

KMIP interop call 2010-10-07

Attending: Mathias, Tim, Steve, Bruce, Alan

Recap from f2f and implications for interop:

-No intermediate release (v1.1), but all proposals currently circulating to be included in v2.0 (target March 2011)

-Statements of Use would require demonstration of interop, which in turn requires use cases to be defined

-In addition to this, use cases for existing features/profiles still missing and work to rehash existing use cases still to be done

Next steps, schedule:

-Need to have both new use cases and implementations crisped up by the end of the year if we want are targeting March/April for spec release

-Some proposals/features more mature than others and which we could start working on earlier (namely asymmetric profiles)

-Storage clients profile use cases could be picked from v1.0 use cases, Gordon and Bruce, Mathias, Stan to work on this - the original deadline was the storage developers conference a week before the f2f,, no new known deadline for now

-Mathias to draw up a draft proposal on how to proceed, to be discussed on next week's call
