We have identified several tasks for which we could use a technical writer to move our efforts forward:

- drafting the specification and schema for Court Filing Blue

- helping domain experts prepare reference schemas using the GJXDM for three to five typical criminal justice documents and their exchanges (for the Integrated Justice TC)

- defining standard profiles for transport, messaging, security, etc. to use across the LegalXML TCs

Jamie Clark suggested that I contact you for suggestions of persons we could use and guidance in the process for obtaining such services (e.g., do we have to proceed in a competitive manner or do you have a sufficient familiarity with the persons in the field and reasonable compensation rates that competition is not necessary?)

For Court Filing 1.0 and 1.1 we had the services of a New Mexico court system employee – Marty Halvorson. He might be available for consulting. His strength is domain knowledge and he has the advantage of having authored two DTD-based specifications on the subject of court filing. He has no experience with OASIS specifications.

Would you advise that we try to get Marty to do the basic work with a senior writer serving as final editor or start with an OASIS-savvy technical writer? Whom would you suggest and how do you suggest that we proceed?
