Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (ODATA-1064) Add ability to annotate collections to return only count and NextLink
George Ericson created ODATA-1064:
-------------------------------------
Summary: Add ability to annotate collections to return only count and NextLink
Key: ODATA-1064
URL: https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/ODATA-1064
Project: OASIS Open Data Protocol (OData) TC
Issue Type: New Feature
Components: CSDL JSON , CSDL XML, Vocabularies
Environment: System with entities containing multiple large collections
Reporter: George Ericson
Assignee: George Ericson
Fix For: V4.02_WD01
In a structured type containing multiple large collection Navigation Properties, it is difficult to manage the limit the responses without utilizing complex request URLs.
One thought is to have an annotation that specifies how many elements to return on the first response would be useful. Additionally, it would help to know to return references or entities. On this, if metadata=full, then AssociationLink and NavigationLinks would be returned. The issue is how to get these if metadata<>full.
I suspect that this might have too many side-effects.
