(OTHER BUSINESS) ANNOUNCEMENT: OPEN DATA INTERCHANGE FRAMEWORK PROJECT
UN/CEFACT and ISO (TC 154) are inviting interested parties to
participate in a project to create a joint Technical Report to define
a consistent and timely way to address and resolve issues of gaps,
overlaps, and counter-productive standardization efforts through:
- Describing a coordinated "Open Data Interchange" framework,
fostering an integrated work program to meet stakeholder needs in
administration, commerce and trade, and
- Describing a collaboration process, involving business processes
and supporting data that facilitate the open electronic
interchange of structured data
The goal is to evaluate experiences and describe a common technical
framework that will engage other key players involved in standards
development and encourage greater consistency and effectiveness of
technical specifications and standards.
The project will:
- Identify the broad scope of technical specifications and
standards, work programmes and strategies for the open interchange
of structured data in support of administration, commerce and
trade
- Identify the relationships and dependencies of the above
- Identify what is missing in the above in order to provide a
complete technical framework
- Propose ways forward such as, division of labor to avoid
duplication of work and to foster coherence in work programmes and
strategies
The project proposal is available at
https://sites.google.com/a/documentengineeringservices.com/methodology-and-technology-pda/technical-framework/documents/OpenDataInterchangeTechnicalReportProjectProposalMarch192012.pdf
It is also available through ISO work item reference ISO/TC 154 N 0659.
The start of the requirements gathering stage is planned at the
UN/CEFACT Spring Forum, 16-20 April 2012.
This project is open to ISO members and members of ISO liaison
organizations, including OASIS. Heads of Delegations to UN/CEFACT may
also nominate technical experts from their constituency to
participate in the work. All interested participants should have
broad knowledge in the area of methodologies and technologies for the
open electronic interchange of structured data.
Expressions of interest to participate or requests for further
information may be sent by e-mail to the project leaders Tim McGrath
(tim.mcgrath@documentengineeringservices.com) or Klaus-Dieter Najouk
(tc154chair@mail-etc.net)
