About this site
Hosted by the OASIS international, non-profit standards consortium, XML.org advances the use of open standards by providing educational information, collaborative resources, and discussion areas.
XML.org Focus Areas comprise a family of web sites that serve as community gathering places for specific OASIS standards and related specifications. Sponsorship for XML.org Focus Areas is provided by members of OASIS committed to supporting the open standards community.
XML.org is home to XML-DEV, an open, publicly archived, unmoderated list that has supported XML implementation and development since 1997.
The XML.org web site is based on Drupal, an open source content management platform.
History
OASIS started XML.org in June 1999. The original goal of the site was
to minimize overlap and duplication in XML languages and standard
initiatives by "bringing
together XML technologists, developers and businesspeople, fostering
collaboration, and facilitating the adoption of XML standards." The
initial XML.org site incorporated a centralized repository of XML
schemas, which is no longer maintained.
