SMP USE OF CHARSET PARAMETER IN HTTP CONTENT-TYPE HEADER



The TC had received a question from Philip Helger asking if adding a charset parameter to the HTTP Content-Type header would be a violation of section 3.2.1 of the SMP specification.
  Section 3.2.1 states that the Content-Type of an HTTP response must be set to “text/xml”, meaning that the an SMP response must have the content type set to “text” and the subtype set to “xml”. The TC assessed that adding a charset parameter to the HTTP Content-Type
  does not invalidate or modify the setting of the content type or subtype, why the HTTP header “Content-Type: text/xml; charset=UTF-8” is fully compliant with the SMP specification and its intention.
