Added meetings to the Focus area subcommittee section; scheduled the 3rd Wednesdays for only 4 times. Hopefully we won't need them all.
Start thinking about what we might need as Document categories.
4) Discuss suggestions made at http://wiki.oasis-open.org/dita-adoption/Comments_about_focus_area. Some of these suggestions are ones on which I think most people agree; others are controversial. Can we deal with the easy ones?

Removing the forum
Requiring approval for people to start a blog; clearer guidelines for what is appropriate content
Consolidate the Resources area into the knowledgebase (Su-Laine Yeo)
Remove the Knowledgebase area all together by moving its content to specific areas (Scott Tsao)
5) Discuss 'What is the mission of dita.xml.org?" (I think different committee members have very different opinions here also.)
A site where we can host DITA resources: Toolkit documentation, Lone user tutorial, Specialization tutorial, samples
Encyclopedia of DITA
General-purpose DITA Wiki (posts by Toolkit collaborators; listing of DITA events, news stories, and press releases)
Host for DITA blogs and DITA user groups

Monitoring dita-users list for threads that should be mined and moved to the Knowledgebase. Can we develop a workable process for this? I think it would be helpful to separate monitoring the list from writing topics for the Knowledgebase. We could maintain a list on an Adoption Committee Wiki page, solicit volunteers to write topics, and track completion

> Carol: if group can agree with what we want we can make the changes.
> Gershon: perhaps we could have only new real content (e.g. articles) update dynamically but not insignificant changes
> Su-Laine: if we filter as to what it is it may be more useful. E.g. filtering events and blog postings as 2 new areas on the page that might solve the problem. Take to the list to figure out the design issues.
> Carol: list problems of home page, e.g. headings without context. Recent Content out of sync with lists on left. Is navigation as good as it could be (to find out how to contribute to the site).
> Wiki on front page of focus area SC can be used to drive our decisions.
> ACTION: Gershon to drive this effort to improve the home page as list of what's wrong and list of changes (spec).

> Carol suggested areas where the forum offers an advantage over the Yahoo group. For instance, there's a forum for specialization on MATHML on the forum. The specialized forums offer more focused discussions that is the case on Yahoo groups. Semi-private or focused discussions can happen at the forums rather than the Yahoo group.
> Lots of discussion on advantages of forums and ways to moderate/control the forums.
> ACTION: Gershon to document current usage and list issues he found with the current forum. Take to email list. Kris to work with Gershon about forums before next meeting.

> Su-Laine: DITA community has certain needs in order to make it easier for people to adopt DITA. If we see ourselves as being a means to an end of DITA adoption, we need to figure out what people need to adopt DITA more. We need to identify gaps and fill those gaps. Better than starting with what's already there. Scope of dita.xml.org is currently huge and we never had the admin resources to edit and manage the entire site well. We're trying to do a lot of things, and I feel we should just focus. For Web 2.0 one needs to organize people around a mission rather than just to dump stuff. So we need a mission for dita.xml.org. Our current mission "we're here so that people can have a place to post things" is not very useful. We get a lot of duplicate content that's available elsewhere too.

> ACTION: Carol will send out statistics about the site.
> ACTION: Su-Laine to draft a mission statement and send to the list. We should do that first, and it should be based on "what does the world need to use DITA more?"
