1) Roll-call, welcome, and introduction of new members or observers
a) status of new member contacts
b) we need a Secretary!

2) Review of top-level goal
"Develop a general top-level design for structured, intent-based authoring of learning content with good learning architecture, following DITA principles and best practices."

3) Agenda planning for first month - through September, 2006
Task 1: "Review of structured designs for learning and how to apply DITA principles and best practices."

Some topics to cover include:
a) Review of IBM pilot learning specializations and DB2 pilot - John Hunt and Bob Bernard
b) Review of background on reusable learning objects and task-oriented, topic-based approaches to learning - JoAnn?
c) Review of background about SCORM standard for e-learning - ?
d) Review of background about IMS Question & Test Interoperability (QTI) standard - ?
e) Anything else? (If that isn't enough!)

4) Future context
a) October, Task 2: Plan the specializations
b) Nov - Jan, Task 3: DITA schemas and processing and pilot with real content
c) Feb/Mar: Review the pilot and prepare a report with recommended next steps.

5) Review of IBM DB2 pilot - JH and BB

6) Close and adjourn

The DITA Learning Content SC had met on Thursday, August 29, 2006

Bruce suggested posting a news release to DITA.XML.org. Bruce to follow up with John regarding content of the news release.

3. Agenda planning
John Hunt and Bob Bernard to present IBM pilot
JoAnn - will try to bring in Chuck Barritt or other Cisco expert
Scott - may try to bring in Bill Young, John may also be able to bring in Tyde Richards as well to discuss SCORM? Starting on the 9/14, with tide on the 9/21.
Possibly bring in Erik Hennum or other expert on QTI?

Other potential subjects:
The typical use of PowerPoint slides in training. How could DITA Learning content address or provide an alternative? Possibly bring in professional instructional designers?
Potentially partner with eLearning Guild advisory board to bring in those experts:

When is the best meeting time? 
There is currently a conflict with the DITA/DocBook/ODF Interoperability forum
JoAnn and John to work on getting the formal invite

John Hunt and Bob Bernard to provide summary of IBM pilot next week. Also look to bring in Ruth Clark or other expert on the Cisco model for next week as well.

John to explore looking at an internal wiki to post links and other information for the SubCommittee.
