It was decided to use the Excel spreadsheet mockup approach due to the fact that many member companies still lack a DITA authoring environment into which they could install a specialization based on the spreadsheet model.

Member companies are once again encouraged to push their appropriate IT / desktop support folks to provide a DITA authoring tool in order to support the SIDSC efforts.
