White paper creation process for the DITA Adoption TC

The DITA Adoption TC intends to follow a standard process for white paper creation. If you have any feedback for the DITA Adoption TC to consider, this would be a good time to send it. The process is as follows:

Identify a need. This need should determine scope.

Find an author

Identify subject matter experts. The Adoption TC should participate in this. 

Write the content. This phase may involve interaction with subject matter experts.

Produce a draft

One week prior to draft, send a request for reviewers to the DITA Adoption list and the DITA TC list

Put together a list of reviewers. This list should include all who responded to the request for reviewers plus all subject matter experts.

The list of reviewers shall be included in the draft next to the revision change history, and it will be posted on the DITA Adoption wiki

Invite reviewers to identify others who ought to review the draft emphasizing that such feedback should go the author immediately

Incorporate comments. Authors are strongly encouraged to let reviewers know the rationale when they opt not to accept a significant comment.

Produce a preliminary. The distribution of this preliminary shall include the DITA Adoption list and the DITA TC list. Distribution should also include any reviewers who are not subscribed to the DITA Adoption list or to the DITA TC list.
