you could do worse than look at the book "The LaTeX Web Companion",
Addison Wesley, 1999 (Goossens, Rahtz, et al); that has a chapter on
TeX4ht, which is (IMHO) the best solution at present. The TeX4ht
website has examples of LaTeX to Docbook.
