DOCBOOK-APPS: list of exmples and preface removal

I am doing some print output with the dsssl 
style-sheets and

I would like to not have the preface on a separate 
page.

I would also like to remove the list of examples 
and list

of figures completely, I have looked but I cannot 
find where

this is referenced.  How can I do 
this?
