a short question about building the example website

as a first step on my way to creating a web site using 
website-2.4.1, i downloaded and unloaded the tarball, followed
the instructions at docbook.sourceforge.net for making the
final product based on the "Building with Make" instructions.

  i'm using saxon, and i installed the saxon extensions that
came with website.  it's making as i type, but i have to ask --
is the saxon processing of each XML file this horrendously,
mind-numbingly slow for everyone who's tried it?  literally,
at least a minute per short XML file.

  admittedly, this is a saxon processor issue, but holy crud,
this is painful.
