RE: %isopub character entities not working

Hi,

I am trying to use publishing character entities (i.e. ✓ in an .xml file). They are not working since I see only an outlined rectangle in the .pdf where the check mark or heart should appear. If I use — • or other general punctuation entities, no problems. 

I am using a non-modified version of docbookx.dtd,v 1.13 2002/07/17 and see the entity declaration:

<!ENTITY % dbcent PUBLIC

"-//OASIS//ENTITIES DocBook Character Entities V4.2//EN" "dbcentx.mod"> 

%dbcent; 

in docbookx.dtd. 

Plus, I have checked that files dbcentx.mod and ent/iso-pub.ent exist. I have read help pages such as http://www.oasis-open.org/docbook/specs/wd-docbook-xmlcharent-0.3.html; but can't figure out what else I need. Any ideas?
