Comparison of HTML to PDF and XML to PDF tools

Hi all,

I'm in the process of comparing tools for a client to produce PDF from 
XHTML files (about 500 to 800 pages).

I have seen previous threads on the XHTML > DocBook XML > XSL-FO > PDF 
workflow, but I'm also thinking about going directly to PDF from the 
XHTML files.

Has anyone had any experience building large documents (800 HTML pages 
 > 700 page PDF) using HTML to PDF tools? Any links to reviews / 
comparisons welcome.
