wide tables with XEP/FO

I have some wide tables which drive XEP crazy (FOP just bombs out). 
How can I turn some tables sideways (i.e.landscape) in FO output that 
is normal page (i.e. portrait).  (Not all tables, I have some which 
fit happily on a portrait page.)   Looks like I need a processing 
instruction of some sort for the wide tables.  Can anyone help?
