Solution:
Switch to xsltproc and (on windows only) avoid all stylesheets that
use the exslt node-set function. For the db4 to db5 (sans node-set)
conversion, Bob Stayton might be persuaded to let you use his custom
stylesheet from earlier in this thread. For the profile (sans
node-set) step, use profiling/profile.xsl from the DocBook XSL
distribution.
