Hi,
1) If I understand your setup, then one target.db file for the main 
document.  You don't create target.db files for chapters that are xincluded.

2) The targetdoc attribute is independent of the xml id of the root element 
of a document, and independent of the filename.  You can use whatever string 
you like, as long as the targetdoc attribute value in your olink elements 
matches the targetdoc attribute value in the <document> element in the 
olinkdb.xml file.

But like I said, if you have only a single document in your olinkdb.xml (the 
main document in your case), then you can skip targetdoc altogether.  If you 
have multiple main documents, then you must use targetdoc.
