May I suggest you download the latest versions of the UMM Meta Model & User
Guide (R12) first from the TMG web site <http://www.untmg.org/ index.php?

tart=0&limit=5>. They are now two separate documents.
Page 43 (figure 5) of the User Guide shows the Business Transaction Pattern
decision tree and on page 110 there is an example. Both should give you
enough information to understand the purpose of each pattern and their
differences. BTW, personally I believe that the term "Business Activity
Patterns" is a better fit.
