Title: RE: [ebxml-jc] 5/31/2004: M&A Summary to Review

Hi Monica:

Overall that sounds good to me - a couple of minor comments:

- Although I have nothing against the name "Marketing and Adoption"

wouldn't "Marketing and Promotion" be more accurate for the role of this TC?

- "... will also work to align with relevant efforts of other

organizations, such as RosettaNet, the Open Applications Group Inc. ..."

Could be more cautiously (or more precisely?) replaced by:

"will interact with B2B user orgs such as RosettaNet, OAG.... to facilitate

the alignment of ebXML TCs with these communities, e.g. by creating opportunities

for joint demonstrations and requirement gathering. "

Cheers,

Jacques

Subject: [ebxml-jc] 5/31/2004: M&A Summary to Review

In our meeting last week, I was asked to draft a short summary to put

out to a few alias/email lists to solicit participants. See below (short

and to the point).

A new forum is being formed to facilitate and promote the ebXML

(Electronic Business eXtensible Markup Language) specifications, and

their adoption and deployment. The ebXML Marketing and Adoption (M&A)

Technical Committee (TC) will work with ebXML Joint Committee (JC),

OASIS communications, current and future OASIS ebXML TCs and other

organizations supporting or deploying ebXML specifications.

The new TC is soliciting sponsors and interested parties to participate

in the support of ebXML adoption and deployment through promotion and

marketing related activities. All OASIS ebXML TCs, non-OASIS ebXML

standards groups and SOA implementers, vendors, eGovernment personnel

and users are encouraged to consider joining this TC.

Working with OASIS, the group will create promotional, explanatory and

marketing materials related to the implementation and adoption of ebXML

including the ebXML.org, and coordinate with other parties or groups who

contribute information for this site. The TC will also seek to create a

users’ council to further support adoption and deployment.

The ebXML M&A TC will also work to align with relevant efforts of other

organizations, such as RosettaNet, the Open Applications Group Inc.

(OAGI) and the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and

eBusiness (UN/CEFACT) organization. Organizations developing or

promoting ebXML methodologies will be invited to participate subject to

OASIS rules.
