The SOAP Version 1.2 Part 0: Primer (Second Edition)  Section 6. Changes Between SOAP 1.1 and SOAP 1.2 states the following

SOAP 1.2 replaces the attribute env:actor with env:role but with essentially the same semantics.

The core spec, however, only refers to 'SOAP actor'
