It appears that the OASIS workshop proposal for IAEM was
accepted.  I just found this entry on the IAEM program that was updated
today.  I will be in touch with Taylor Jones and the others listed on the
proposal to organize the elements of the workshop session.

Data Interoperability to Optimize Local Emergency Coordination

Several U.S. federal agencies (DHS, FEMA, and NOAA) and industry
associations have teamed with OASIS Members to

demonstrate the interoperability of information-sharing products
enabled by the full suite of Emergency Data eXchange

Language (EDXL) standards. These demonstration scenarios showcase
(at the IAEM EMEX) how local, multi-disciplinary,

multi-agency collaborative emergency interoperation can be
facilitated through the adoption and implementation of open

standards to enable true data interoperability. This workshop
panel will be comprised of subject matter experts from a

variety of domains involved in the notification and coordination
of responses to emergency incidents. The panel experts

who have “walked the walk” with data interoperability will present
specific, practical issues that support and impact the

interoperability of information among personnel in emergency
management, public safety, fire, emergency medical,

Emergency Alert System broadcasters. They will also discuss the
practical benefits that local communities gain when

multiple agencies utilize open data exchange standards.

This workshop will:

• Raise awareness on the existence of emergency interoperability
standards;

• Inform the audience on the benefits of improved data
interoperability;

• Illustrate how data interoperability standards lead to improved
incident management at the operational level;

• Highlight the importance of data interoperability among local
agencies, in addition to their need for voice

interoperability.
