However, I thought I would share some thoughts about work that relates to your message below with respect to "... the evolving domain of the built-environment, e.g. interior spaces, and the transition/interface from Geospatial to Building-specific information." You might find it interesting to know that OGC has been working on to solve similar issues and to create standards to address the built-environment through their CityGML standards work. This effort has included collaboration with Architecture and Engineering community in 2005 and even earlier to integrate with the Building Information Model (BIM) standards that carries very detail information about the construction of buildings, down to the lowest level of details required for design and construction. This collaboration has been demonstrated whereby geographic information has been brought together with CAD model data to produce a detailed 3-dimensional view that transitions from geospatial 3-D (geographic locations and CityGML 3-D structures to building interiors.
