RE: Re-vitalization of GIS SC

off discussions regarding possible changes to CAP etc. These potential changes 
would be based on implementation experience (see below).

With what we learned during CWID 
2007 and the suggested improvements to the CAP capabilities to handle spatial 
data I wonder if the GIS SC should be reactivated to consider enhancements to 
this area of CAP. For example, we noted that points, lines and routes could not 
be included in a CAP message. These were considered essential basic graphic 
capabilities for 
managing the disaster response and requesting/responding to support and assets. 
Also, in some scenarios we thought it would be valuable to identify potentially 
impacted populations (e.g. general public, nursing home residents, 
schools, in a hazardous plume, etc.) by using a plume footprint to identify 
population attributes contained in various databases.  Some of these same, and other, 
spatial data concerns should be considered in the HAVE and RM standards as 
well.

If the GIS SC is reactivated, I 
would like to be part of the discussions.
