I’d like to submit the following definition for consideration for inclusion in the terms and definitions.  This comes from the harmonized biometric vocabulary
 of ISO/IEC JTC1 SC37 (DIS 2382-37).

automated recognition of individuals based on their behavioural and biological characteristics
