Notes from KMIP interop call, January 6
All,
Here are my summary notes from today's interop call. Please let me know of any additions/corrections you might have.
Best Regards,
Mathias
KMIP interop 2011-01-06
Attending: Mathias, Bruce, Krishna (IBM), Tim (Cryptsoft), Alan, Denis (SafeNet), John, Steve (HP)

IBM server supporting all original use cases and the four new asymmetric ones, Cryptsoft missing support for Archive, Recover, Re-key. SafeNet added support for two new asymmetric use cases, HP server supporting same as earlier and will work on adding asymmetric support. Alan will try to find a 16-port switch for the RSA demo. Need to agree on and list what clients, servers are participating, what certificates and credentials to use etc. Asked Bob Griffin to share latest slide deck to display on the screen of the OASIS booth.
Discussion on keeping metadata around after Destroy - spec says that it MAY be retained which can cause interoperability issues. Consider adding a way of Querying this information (if metadata is kept around or not, do destroyed objects show up in Locates). Why are Names required to be unique? This pushes the problem to the clients, and you cannot get independent clients to coordinate their names. Two applications might be using the same naming scheme. Names required to be unique for a single server, while UUIDs should (not SHALL) be unique across key mgmt domains.
