Notes from KMIP interop call, January 20
All, Here are my summary notes from last week's interop call. Please let me know of any additions/corrections you might have. If you wish to be added to the interop mailing list () used for most of the interop-related technical and logistical issues, please send an email to Dee (). Best Regards, Mathias KMIP interop 2011-01-20 Attending: Larry Hofer (Emulex), John Clark (HP), Tim Hudson (Cryptsoft), Bharath Krishnappa (RSA), Steve Weirenga (HP), Mathias Bjoerkqvist, Bruce Rich (IBM), Denis Pochuev, Alan Frindell (SafeNet), Adnan Visic (High Density Devices), Jane Harnad (OASIS) IBM successfully tested client against HP server, Cryptsoft relaxed major version checking on server (related to suggested new Re-key Key Pair operation) and successfully ran client against HP server, HP supporting 13.1-13.3 and most of 13.4 in client, working on server-side functionality. RSA tested old client against HP and IBM - some issues with UC 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 against HP server. SafeNet has server up with limited functionality (subset of symmetric key store profile),will write up some use cases for next week. Emulex will try out their server next week. Jane still waiting for booth layout preferences. If you have not already done so, please send names and contact details of the two persons from each participating company that will be in the OASIS booth. Managed to get the OASIS to be a sponsor of the Pub Crawl which will be an extra highlight. Will send out another participants' info package soon. Discussion on encoding of Big Integer with value '0' - encode it as a value of length 0 (and no value), or length 8 and all-zero value? No issues spotted in KMIP implementations yet, but this was an issue with SSL implementations in the past. Should be clarified. Registration of templates, currently two ways of doing it - attributes in a Managed Object, or no MO (or an empty one) and all attributes in the Template-Attribute structure. Both handled in IBM TKLM product. Feature/implementation freeze suggested for around February 5 so that everyone can verify what works and what does not against other vendors' clients and servers.
