During the conference call yesterday afternoon, the
Technical Committee approved referring John Messing’s concerns
about security to the Layered Interoperability Subcommittee.  The effect
of this referral is that I am asking John to work with Dallas to ensure
that the segment of Dallas’s
subcommittee’s work dealing with security incorporates John’s security
solution as one method available to courts and lawyers for guaranteeing the
integrity of electronic court records.  The purpose of Dallas’s
subcommittee is to identify the various aspects of electronic filing where
court and vendor solutions differ, the implications of those differences for
interoperability, and how efiling systems should expose their system designs
and configurations to others who wish to interface with them.
