  Don,
   
  I'm 
  glad we are now "on board" with OASIS.  There are a few open questions 
  and loose ends yet to conclude, as we settle in.  For that reason, 
  I'm calling for a Steering Committee meeting.  
  It is time to finalize initial workgroup migration, normalize our processes 
  and set an agenda.  [Daniel 
  Greenwood] I've attached the most recent copy of the proposed "way 
  forward" (it is rough and needs work, I wrote it with Jim and John's input 
  after our first sparsly attended organizational meeting and then Jim has 
  edited it).  
   
  My sincere hope 
  is that we will structure our Steering Committee affairs such that all formal 
  decision are made either at in person meetings or during conference 
  calls.  We should organize our schedule and docket such that we have very 
  few such calls (perhaps one a month or fewer in the "ramp up" phase and 
  quarterly calls thereafter).  I do not see need for overmuch of 
  overfrequent formal action at the Steering Committee level, and it is my hope 
  that members who wish to be very active will apply themselves to our fledgling 
  TCs and toward the creation of standards documents.
   
  I suggest that we 
  invite Scott and Karl to join us for the second half of our first Steering 
  Committee call.  They have indicated there is much to convey to us and 
  that they eagerly anticiapte the holding of our first meeting soon.  
  
   
  Shall I seek appropriate times, or would you like to 
  take the initiative?
