Personally, I think I am not in favour of this. I think that having a transport agnostic discovery mechanism is potentially useful, perhaps allowing cross-transport discovery. It also allows the easy varying of application behaviour depending on the outcome of the discovery processing. Some more concrete examples either way would be useful.
