This profile of the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) describes an interpretation of the standard necessary to meet the needs of the Australian Government. It encourages best practice use of emergency warning systems in the world's sixth largest country, incorporating changes requested by Australian stakeholders.

WS-BRSP public reviews begin
Basic Profile 1.2 and 2.0, Basic Security Profile 1.1, Reliable Secure Profile 1.0 have been submitted by the Web Services Basic Reliable and Secure Profiles (WS-BRSP) TC, which maintains the work of WS-I. These four public reviews end 30 Oct.

XLIFF public review ends soon
The XML Localisation Interchange File Format (XLIFF) 2.0 defines a vocabulary for storing localizable data and carrying it from one step of the localization process to the other, while allowing interoperability between tools. This public review ends 5 Oct.

DITA Adoption Cmte presents webinar
Learn about the important roles and responsibilities of a successful DITA implementation in this free webinar on 30 Oct. DITA helps organizations improve documentation, offer multiple delivery options, and develop content more efficiently. Based on a new feature article, "DITA Roles and Responsibilities", Deb Bissantz and Jacquie Samuels will present all the elements of a successful (and spooky) approach.

'Big Data, System Dynamics, and XMILE' webinar looks at climate change
The webinar on 8 Oct will profile a computer simulation that helps people understand the long-term climate impacts of policies designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This is the first in a series that will showcase exemplar applications of System Dynamics in the areas of environment, business, health care, and public policy and discuss new opportunities that will be available as the XMILE standard is advanced. All are welcome to attend.

This quick start introduction to electronic court filing and service covers how to get started with the LegalXML Electronic Court Filing (ECF) 4.0 standard as well as valuable lessons learned from e-filing implementations across the United States.
SGIP Smart Grid event to feature MQTT
The Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP) conference, co-sponsored by OASIS, will bring stakeholders in the energy ecosystem together to discuss the harmonization of standards that critically impact, enhance, and accelerate the deployment of a smarter grid. Geoff Brown of M2Mi will participate in an IoT presentation on Duke Energy research into using the Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) standard to manage low-cost controllers in field locations. The event will be held 5-7 Nov in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, USA.
OASIS is a non-profit consortium that drives

OASIS moves IT to Cloud
The consortium successfully migrated its technical infrastructure out out of a private, physical datacenter and into a persistent cloud environment. Core applications were upgraded to improve performance and security. The transition was executed with minimal downtime--the only sign of change most members might notice is improved website performance. Congratulations to Jose Marquez and Scott McGrath on piloting this project. Both look forward to the hiring of a new Technology Services Manager (see
job opening).
