We have a sense of who we are. Who do we need to be? Business wisdom dictates that we need to be even more of who we are: more agile, more rapid, more transparent. We may also need to understand standards in a broader sense: what is getting standardized today can be anything from an Open Source API to a pattern to a best practice. It makes sense to shift our focus from standards in the strict definition to interoperability as a whole, and reach out to a variety of partners to reduce the fragmentation of the standards landscape. Members propose Legal Citation Markup TC
All interested parties are asked to review and comment on a draft charter to establish the OASIS LegalCiteM Technical Committee. The proposed TC will develop an open standard for machine-readable tagging of legal citations. It will support citations as used in different countries and jurisdictions across a broad variety of content types including court cases, legislation, regulations, parliamentary documents, and legal treatises. Initial LegalCiteM TC proposers include the American Association of Law Libraries, Cornell Law School, MTG, Rutgers School of Law, and the University of Bologna-CIRSFID; additional proposers are welcome. John Joergensen of Rutgers serves as convener. The member comment period for this draft charter closes 25 Dec.

Members propose OSLC CCM TC
All interested parties are asked to review and comment on a draft charter to establish the OASIS OSLC Lifecycle Integration for Change and Configuration Management (OSLC CCM) Technical Committee, the newest addition to the suite of OSLC TCs. OSLC CCM will focus on improving transparency, traceability, and agility of lifecycle tools. It will define a common set of resources, formats, and RESTful services for use in tools supporting change, configuration, and asset management domain scenarios. OSLC CCM TC proposers include representatives of OASIS Foundational Sponsor, IBM, as well as EADS, Fluid Operations, PTC, and Sodius. Steve Speicher of IBM serves as convener. The member comment period for this draft charter closes 19 Dec.

XMILE System Dynamics webinar series continues
On 17 Dec, the XMILE TC will host an interactive conversation about policy simulations and system dynamics. The discussion will build on previous XMILE webinars on climate change, health reform, and financial services. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate. Other upcoming XMILE webinars will focus on 'Electricity Market Dynamics' (7 Jan) and 'Big Data in Retail' (28 Jan).
Electronic Trial Master File (eTMF) Standard TC launches
The eTMF TC successfully launched on 16 Dec. Members from CareLex, Forte Research, Mayo Clinic, Paragon Solutions, SAFE-BioPharma, and SterlingBio elected Zack Schmidt of SureClinical as chair. The eTMF TC will define machine readable formats for clinical trial master file content interoperability and data exchange. New members are welcome.
