IMO as we type XML we seldom put "smart quotes" in. So I'd turn it
off for all examples, but leave in all text that's not XML example
text.
It also sounds like it's a good time for me to quickly review the
UML diagram - I'll do that tonight.
Thanks!

I’ve
seen it in some places. Can I get a ruling Toby, on whether
smart quotes should/should not be in the XML? It appears
from what I’ve seen that prose quotes are “smart”, and XML
quotes are mixed – some are smart (mostly ones that have
been edited recently), and some are not (mostly ones that
are heldover from 1.0).
I
have a WD32 with all the fixes except smart quotes ready to
ship out, and can produce a WD32 with the smart quote fix,
just let me know. WD31 has most of the changes, so the
difference to WD32 should be small enough that people could
consume it on the fly in the call tomorrow if need be.

Hi
Craig,
I
was just looking in XML snippets the tagspace chapter, it
contains two types of quotes:
but
also in the versioning XML snippet I see the "Word"-ified
quotes:
it
is really nitpicking, I know... (I can go through the doc
and create a list if needed, but maybe it is faster with the
formatted search within Word?!)

I’ve
fixed 5.5.1 – I noticed that when I first moved it, but
forgot to go back and check that accepting changes had
fixed it, sorry!
I
searched through a few dozen pages in the middle, and I
found:
·
quotes
in the XML are simple text quotes
·
quotes
in the prose are Word-style “down-quote/up-quote”
·
When
the prose is specifically including some XML, it has
un-styled quotes
This
seems to be consistent, at least in the sections I
checked. Is that a problem? Can you point to an example?
I
have made these changes to a WD32 doc, which I can send
out once we sort this out. It shouldn’t be a problem for
people since the changes will be very minor from WD31.
Thanks,
Craig

Hi
Craig,
cool stuff! I only have two formatting comments:
- 5.1.1 is twice in the text (one for tagspace, same for
versioning)
- there are a lot of Word formatted quote characters
mixed-in with the standard quotes, can this easily be
cleaned?

Submitter's message
I have posted WD31 which includes the changes from last
weeks' discussion. I am hopeful that this one may be able to
go out for public review.
Thanks,
Craig
