The first syntax proposal would suggests that we allow other query options within the parentheses, e.g. $expand, $top, or $skip.
I vote for the second syntax, which we already use in Data Aggregation within aggregate() expressions
GET ~/Products?$apply=aggregate(Sales(Amount mul Product/TaxRate with sum as Tax))
and in context URLs, although so far in both cases for navigation paths.
