How do we envision clients using this?
I think we've discussed this in the past, but weren't sure how the client would use. The maxpagesize preference gives the client a way to specify what they would like to see as the max page size for server-driven paging; otherwise the client has no control over the page size so we weren't able to come up with a benefit for the client in knowing what it might be.
