The media stream of a media entity can be addressed as a pseudo-property {{$value}} both in the [path part of the URL|https://docs.oasis-open.org/odata/odata/v4.01/odata-v4.01-part1-protocol.html#sec_RequestingtheMediaStreamofaMediaEnti]Âand in the [system query option $expand|https://docs.oasis-open.org/odata/odata/v4.01/os/part2-url-conventions/odata-v4.01-os-part2-url-conventions.html#sec_SystemQueryOptionexpand].

What's missing is the possibility to [target this pseudo-property with an annotation|https://docs.oasis-open.org/odata/odata-csdl-json/v4.01/odata-csdl-json-v4.01.html#sec_Target]:
