It would be unfortunate if this TC were
      closed without some discussion of the reasons it did not make
      progress.

      

      The need that motivated the formation of this TC is certainly not
      over. There is still no standardization of the foundations for
      quantities and units of measure.  Perhaps if the scope were
      narrowed, there might be some buy-in from the national
      organizations.

          stepped forward to volunteer to chair the TC, it is perhaps

                I am required to close a TC that has not had a chair in

Is this a sign that the need for the TC is over and
                it is time for the TC to close? Nothing wrong with that
                at all. If, on the other hand, you feel that there is
                still work to do be done, then the TC needs to meet and
                elect a Chair as soon as possible. 

              

              

              
Please let me know your thoughts on whether or not it
