I concur. A great software company once said "The network is the
computer" ;-)
Like a single CPU system, a distributed computing system can benefit
from a registry. I personally like the MS Windows Registry model
(please - no flames from Linux zealots). The registry contains keys
that identify system resources to be called when needed. A distributed
computing model can benefit from a registry in the same way.
Perhaps the paper could compare the usefulness of the Windows Registry
system and point out that the ebXML Registry could provide a similar
service for distributed computing?
BTW - I personally don't believe that distributed computing will ever
become mainstream since the network lags incurred and multiplicity of
possible points of failure seem to mitigate any perceived advantage.
IMHO - the whole concept seems to be a "we're doing this just because
we can" technologist driven exercise. Single calls to BSI's are more
likely.
