Please encourage your OASIS voting representative to participate in the ballot for UIMA specification before the closing Saturday, 28 February 2009 @ 23:45 ET.

  As a contributor to the specification I am available to answer any questions they may have. Such as, how it is complementary to RegReps support of content management. As an overview they may find it interesting to note that UIMA stands for the Unstructured Information Management Architecture . The proposed specification defines a standard for data representations, data transport formats, component classes and service interfaces to support the interoperability and integration of text and multi-modal analytics. UIMA is most valuable  for an increasing number of applications designed to analyze content in text, speech, audio or video to extract application-specific semantics. Especially when there is a need to use, reuse and combine independently developed component analytics. UIMA makes it possible to integrate these based on a standard and to use the popular open-source Java (and C++) UIMA framework (http://incubator.apache.org/uima/) to implement and deploy integrated solutions for a wide variety of application domains including: legal, business and government intelligence, human resources, bioinformatics, advanced search and content analysis, the semantic web and many others.
