With no disrespect to you or William Shakespeare! In my view, there is
nothing in <optional> that intuitively reveals that you can use only /one/
instance in an instance document.
If you 'hated' <zero-or-one>, do you likewise dislike <zeroOrMore> and
<oneOrMore>?
