Cloud profile
Hi all, I had some time to go through the DMTF CIMI papers. I think in terms of our cloud profile, this is/should be the basis we are working on: Focus on the “increase capacity” CIMI use case, which maps to new machine creation in CIMI terms. I have not been able to find this exact use case in the CIMI papers though. Jeff does this exist somewhere in the CIMI universe? Restructure our Cloud profile so that section 4 is arranged around use cases, not SAF spec elements. So 4.1=Adding Capacity through Machine Creation (or scaling out), 4.2=Modifying Storage Capacity (through adding a new volume, aka scaling up –do we need this?) and maybe 4.3=Configuring a machine in response to environmental changes, e.g. enabling monitoring or changing monitoring intervals in response to anticipated increase in load, etc. Get rid of the more explicit stuff regarding green use cases, security etc since we will focus only on CIMI (and later on OGF) specific use cases For the first use case, we should add a proper workflow diagram, and then explain the step sequence in SAF terms. I will start with the restructuring of the document now, unless someone has any objection to that. Any thoughts or comments about the above? We’ll talk about this on the call today.
