NEW ISSUE: Deployment, Redeployment - Granularity and Semantics

Description:

Discussions at the June 2008 F2F meeting
made it clear that the description of Deployment, Redeployment,

the associated granularity and semantics
associated with these operations are unclear from the specification

but they are of real concern to both
runtime implementers and to developers and deployers of solutions, 

since they need to have a good understanding
of what will happen.

This emerged particularly from a discussion
of deployment actions which cause "rewiring", and how the

Domain configuration is changed when
a deployment or redeployment action has the effect of changing

or adding wire targets.  The same
can be said for deployment actions which change Domain level

property values.

The SCA Assembly specification needs
additional material to describe the effects of deployment and

redeployment and how changes to wiring
and to property values are handled.  

There may also be the need to consider
a full lifecycle description for SCA components including actions

such as "Start" and "Stop".
 The current specification does not say anything about these lifecycle
states

but they become important once considering
the possibility of dynamic update of wiring and/or property

values.

It is likely that the behaviours described
will need to be optional - some runtimes may need to be relatively

static and may not permit dymanic changes
at all.  Other runtimes may make a virtue of the capability to

change aspects of the deployed domain
at the drop of a hat.
