Results

Many thanks to everyone who participated in last month's
survey on a

potential face-to-face general member meeting in 2011.

We received 142 responses. The results indicated a very close divide

between members likely (51%) and unlikely (49%) to attend a face-to-face
general

meeting.

The primary obstacles to attendance were lack of travel budget (37%)

and time (12%), although some members (12%) simply feel a face-to-face

meeting would not be beneficial.

Of the 51% of members who said they would be somewhat or very likely

to attend, most said they would do so if TC meetings were held in

conjunction with the event. TC Lightning Rounds and a networking

reception were also ranked as very desirable by those likely to attend.

Before a final determination is made regarding a meeting in 2011,

staff will explore the opportunity with TC chairs to determine their

level of support. We encourage all TCs to discuss the issue at their

next meeting and determine whether or not they would find value in

co-locating a F2F TC meeting with a general members meeting. Chairs

will be asked to convey their conclusions to our Events Manager, Jane

Harnad.
