OpenCSA Member Section Steering Committee Nomination Now Open
OASIS OpenCSA members: Three seats on the OASIS Open CSA Member Section Steering Committee [1] are up for election in May. All Open CSA participants are invited to nominate qualified candidates and/or serve on the Steering Committee. If you aren't currently active in Open CSA, now is a great time to join. The Open CSA Steering Committee provides guidance to help the Member Section achieve its goal to advance open standards that simplify SOA application development. The nomination and election procedures for the Steering Committee is defined by the OASIS Member Section Policy [2] and the Open CSA Member Section Rules of Procedure [3]. There are seven elected members on the Open CSA Steering Committee; each serve two-year terms. The elections are staggered annually to assure continuity of leadership. This year, the Member Section will elect three Steering Committee members to full two-year terms. Any Open CSA participant [4] may nominate or be nominated as a candidate for the Steering Committee. (Any OASIS member may join the Open CSA Member Section at no additional cost additional cost [5].) Each Open CSA Supporting Entity has one Qualified Elector who casts the single vote on behalf of his/her organization. Unless otherwise designated, the organization's Primary Representative serves as the Qualified Elector. NOMINATION & ELECTION SCHEDULE Nominations will be open 01-May-2011 through 15-May-2011. The election will be held 16-May-2011 through 30-May-2011. These elected seats will be effective June 1st, 2011. The Open CSA Steering Committee has regularly scheduled teleconference meetings on the second Monday of each month at 11AM Pacific, with occasional extra meetings as needed. NOMINATION PROCESS Any Open CSA participant may nominate a candidate via email to: . Prior to being confirmed as a candidate, each nominee must: 1. Accept the nomination; 2. Confirm his/her ability to meet the time commitments of the position (participation in a one-hour teleconference each month, additional support activities as needed); 3. Provide background information and a position statement describing his/her qualifications and motivation for serving on the Steering Committee; and 4. Be a participant in the Open CSA Member Section. ELECTION PROCESS The three new Steering Committee members will be selected by the Open CSA Qualified Electors, using the Single Transferable Voting (STV) process - Scottish Method [6]. STV considers each voter's ranked preference for candidates, in order to more accurately reflect the wishes of the electorate. Open CSA Qualified Electors will be sent detailed voting instructions separately. Results will be announced immediately after they are tabulated and confirmed.
