Action Item 2008-11-11-7: Propose a delta on JAVA-25 for message correlation on callbacks

Hi,

 

I have an action item to propose a delta on the changes for
JAVA-25 to add support for message correlation on call backs.

 

 

I would like to propose that we do not provide any
infrastructure support for correlating call backs at this time.

 

The reasons for this include:

 

 
We would need to make
     ServiceReferences mutable. This would undo the good work done by Issues
     25, 9, 19, 10 and others that made them immutable.

 
It is already possible to do
     correlation of call backs if it is required by using application data
     (i.e. pass some form of correlation ID in the business data)

 
Not implementing this now does
     not preclude it from being added to later versions of the specification if
     there is a proven need for this feature.

 

This now completes my action item.
