Guys: This is a great conversation, thank you all for the contributions thus far. As you will no doubt be aware, and in common with my organisations ?? practices, posting to an OASIS TC ??s mailing list is only possible by a member of that committee. I ??ve been involved with the StratML project for some time and have been quite impressed with the process that StratML has taken to testing the appropriateness of the structures with actual Strategic Plans ?? well over a hundred strategic plans have been modeled and are actively maintained in the StratML format by the committee participants. In reviewing the TGF primer I can see where the scope of work that StratML has embraced (Strategic Plans and Performance Reports) fits into the TGF model. It is quite rewarding to see that two different perspectives can result in a consistent view of this process. It is incredibly important that StratML and TGF continue along the path of convergence and the adoption of best-of-breed approaches. I want to add my voice to Owen ??s suggestion, ?? It would be good if OASIS and AIIM could establish a partnership to pursue potential synergies between the TGF and StratML ?. The synergies are very real. At this stage, I won ??t respond to any of the particular content issues raised. My one concern would be to be sure that there are appropriate agreements in place between OASIS, AIIM or others that provide us all with the ??security blanket ?? to protect our respective IPR, copyrights, etc. Owen: As regards StratML, could you give us all a heads-up on: - Who and how, beyond AIIM, is StratML being promoted? What could the TGF TC do to improve this? - How is the relationship of StratML with ANSI managed (for info, OASIS is an accredited organisation within ANSI)? *** AIIM also is an ANSI accredited standards development organization and has been one since March 15, 1985. Additionally, AIIM holds secretary roles at both the TC and SC level for one of the ISO committees focused on document management which StratML supports. - StratML is explicitly an XML representation ?? what modelling or representation has been done ??upstream ?? of the concepts covered (eg UML, concept maps, etc.)? - Who is using StratML or providing use-cases, etc that help give you feedback as regards what is needed? As you will know from our previous exchanges we are keen to develop a relationship with StratML, the only question being how and when to avoid unnecessary work on both our sides. With that in mind perhaps it would help if I clarified our plans. As David pointed out we have now published version 1.0 of our TGF Primer. This is essentially a communication tool and was a quick way we saw of getting the message out about the TGF. Now that we have that document available we are proceeding apace to take the relevant pieces of it and turn it into a traditional standard with conformance clauses etc. That standard will also include machine readable material, possibly in RDF format but that ??s yet to be decided. Peter Brown is our Editor and is exploring options on this aspect as we speak. So going back to my opening comment about avoiding unnecessary work it might be better if we looked towards including the OASIS TGF Standard, when it becomes available, in a properly configured StratML format rather than spend a lot of time on the Primer which is and will always remain a text based communication document.
