Some thoughts for our TC meeting

Hi all,

Just a few notes for our meeting.

1.      
Attached is a formal Call from JTC 1/SC40 regarding the setting up of a “study group” to examine the relationship between the ISO 38500-series of standards and the OASIS TGF work, and consider the implications for both. Our very own
 Geoff Clarke will be chairing this Study Group but as OASIS is an “A” Liaison member to SC40, OASIS has the possibility, in its own right, of nominating participants to the Study group – and who better to turn to that this TC!

If you are interested, please let me know of announce yourself on the TC call. All names will be forwarded to Jamie Clarke, who manages all liaison work between OASIS and external bodies such as JTC 1. The deadline
 for submitting names to SC40 is 10 July.

2.      
I repeat the request for a third “Statement of Use” of TGF v2 in order that we can consider moving version 2 from its current status as a TC Specification on to an OASIS Standard: 3 statements of use are an absolute pre-requisite;
 and this will also require an OASIS membership-wide ballot, if the TC chooses to pursue this.

3.      
Finally, I would like to suggest that – aside from pursuing the two previous items – the TGF TC holds off from committing to any further work for the moment. I think the JTC 1 SC40 Study Group offers a great opportunity by providing
 a mutually beneficial forum to discuss current and possible future work in this domain, and may provide this TC will some valuable feedback of perceived gaps or requests for further work (possibly including future submission of TGF TC work to JTC 1 in the
 future).Please do not hesitate to get involved.
